Dermal Fillers.

Dermal Fillers are used to add volume and structure to the face by restoring lost volume; smoothing out wrinkles and reducing the signs of ageing. Using premium quality products with proven safety profiles, we can improve contours and reduce signs of ageing.

Dermal fillers are not permanent, and areas treated will return to normal without further treatments. to maintain the results, but once you are happy with the results this may only need to be done once a year. We offer an extensive portfolio of dermal filler treatments and choosing the best product for the correct indication is key to achieving the best result. Results are immediate with the fullest effect a few weeks later once your treatment has settled. Consultations are required to determine the best product for your needs.

What happens during the treatment?

A full consultation is always carried out prior to treatment, to discuss the most suitable filler and plan the treatment.
This usually happens at an appointment prior to actual treatment.
On the day of treatment, there will be a consent form to complete, I will take photographs and depending on the area to be treated a numbing cream will be applied. The treatment will be carried out using a needle or a special
cannula. There are different types of filler for different areas and effects. These are all discussed during your consultation.

How long does the treatment take?

You will be in the clinic for between 45 and 90 minutes depending on the areas being treated.

Does it hurt?

It isn’t generally a painful procedure, sometimes there is what can be described as a slight pinching sensation. But patients generally find it a very tolerable procedure.

How long will the effects last?

How long the treatment effects last will depend on a number of things. What area is being treated, lips for example tend to wear off quicker than the cheeks as lips are a more. What type of filler is used, some are more long lasting than others. The amount of filler that is used, sometimes the area has to be built up gradually. Dermal fillers need to be looked at as a work in progress, especially when treating the whole face.

Do I need repeated treatments?

When first having fillers, you may need 2-4 sessions to achieve the desired result. But once this is achieved you may only need treatment once a year to maintain the results.

What will I look like immediately after treatment?

There will be some redness, possible tenderness, and possible bruising. Therefore, it is recommended not to have treatment within 2 weeks of special events or holidays.

Do I need to do anything special before or after the treatment?

Prior to treatment it is advised to avoid alcohol and anti-inflammatory medications to reduce the chances of bruising. Some supplements should also be reduced to prevent bruising, for example vitamin E or fish oils. It is possible to take arnica tablets for one week before treatment, this may reduce your chances of bruising. Do not stop
taking any prescription medication without first discussing with me.
Depending on the area being treated I may ask you to attend without makeup. Following treatment, it is usually advised not to apply make up for at least 4 hours. And do not sleep directly on the area treated.
